Summary: After it looks as if she's left his life for good this time, Tom Hansen reflects back on the just over one year that he knew Summer Finn. Despite being physically average in almost every respect, Summer had always attracted the attention of men, Tom included. For Tom, it was love at first sight when she walked into the greeting card company where he worked, she the new administrative assistant. Soon, Tom knew that Summer was the woman with whom he wanted to spend the rest of his life. Although Summer did not believe in relationships or boyfriends - in her assertion, real life will always ultimately get in the way - Tom and Summer became more than just friends. Through the trials and tribulations of Tom and Summer's so-called relationship, Tom could always count on the advice of his two best friends, McKenzie and Paul. However, it is Tom's adolescent sister, Rachel, who is his voice of reason...

Now for the first time ever on DVD, we present the premiere collection of Disney's Oswald shorts - all featuring new scores composed especially for this release. Summary: Aladdin is a street-urchin who lives in a large and busy town long ago with his faithful monkey friend Abu. When Princess Jasmine gets tired of being forced to remain in the palace that overlooks the city, she sneaks out to the marketplace, where she accidentally meets Aladdin. Under the orders of the evil Jafar (the sultan's advisor), Aladdin is thrown in jail and becomes caught up in Jafar's plot to rule the land with the aid of a mysterious lamp. Legend has it that only a person who is a "diamond in the rough" can retrieve the lamp from the Cave of Wonders. Aladdin might fight that description, but that's not enough to marry the princess, who must (by law) marry a prince.

Meanwhile, across town in the castle, the King determines that his son the Prince should find a suitable bride and provide him with a required number of grandchildren. So the King invites every eligible maiden in the kingdom to a fancy dress ball, where his son will be able to choose his bride. Cinderella has no suitable party dress for a ball, but her friends the mice, lead by Jaques and Gus, and the birds lend a hand in making her one, a dress the evil stepsisters immediately tear apart on the evening of the ball. Summary: After another raid in an empty village, the chief of the Vikings Timandahaf misunderstands the explanation of his druid Cryptograf that "fear gives wings to the dwellers" and believes that fear actually makes the villagers fly. They decide to chase the champion of fear in Gaul to learn how to fly and make them invincible warriors. Meanwhile, the nephew of Vitalstatistix, Justforkix, is sent from Parisium to the Gaulish village to become a man and Asterix and Obelix are assigned to train the youngster. The stupid son of Cryptograf, Olaf, listens to a conversation of the coward Justforkix with Asterix and Obelix and kidnaps him. While returning to the Viking village, Justforkix meets Abba, the daughter of Timandahaf, and they fall in love for each other. But the Machiavellian and ambitious Cryptograf plan to marry his son Olaf with Abba and become powerful. In the end, Asterix realizes that it is not fear that gives wings, it is love.

Comments: It's never too late to become what you might have been
Summary: Grant and Fiona Anderson have been married for forty-four years. Their marriage has been a generally happy and loving one although not perfect due to some indiscretions when Grant was working as a college professor. Fiona has just been admitted to Meadowlake, a long term care facility near their country home in southwestern Ontario, because her recent lapses of memory have been diagnosed as a probable case of Alzheimer's disease. She and Grant made this decision together, although a still lucid Fiona seems to have made peace with the decision and her diagnosis more so than Grant. With respect to the facility, what Grant has the most difficulty with are what he sees as the sadness associated with the facility's second floor - where the more advanced cases are housed - but most specifically the facility's policy of no visitors within the first thirty days of admission to allow the patient to adjust more easily to their new life there...

Summary: In 1994, director Richard Linklater ("Dazed and Confused", "Waking Life") made "Before Sunrise", a gorgeous poem of a movie about two strangers (played by Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy) wandering around Vienna, talking, and falling in love. Ten years later, Linklater, Hawke, and Delpy have returned with "Before Sunset", which reunites the same characters after Hawke has written a book about that night. Delpy appears at the final book reading of his European tour; they have less than two hours before Hawke has to catch a flight to New York...and in that time, they walk around Paris, talk, and fall in love all over again. It sounds simple, perhaps dull, but it's written with such skill and care and acted with such richness that it's a miracle of filmmaking. On its own, "Before Sunset" is moving and wonderful; seen right after "Before Sunrise", it will break your heart. "--Bret Fetzer"

This relatively stable situation is shaken up when Benny is obliged in a poker game to welcome another player's relative, Sam, to his home for a few days. When Sam arrives, he quickly makes an impression with his quietly eccentric ways which emulate the antics of the great silent movie comedian, Buster Keaton. Without Benny's full knowledge, Sam and Joon find themselves drawn to each other to the fullest degree. However, Cody is soon abducted by the murderous poacher, Percival McLeach, who is after that bird which is of a highly endangered species and therefore an extremely profitable quarry. In a panic, a mouse Cody freed from one of McLeach's traps sends a desperate call for help to the Rescue Aid Society in New York City who assigns their top agents, Miss Bianca and Bernard to the task. With transportation provided by the goofy Albatross, Wilbur, the agents arrive in Austrailia and link up with the RAS' local field operative, Jake The Kangaroo Rat. Summary: The delightful sitcom "The Big Bang Theory" revolves around a character type rarely seen on television: the alpha geek. Physicists Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Sheldon (Jim Parsons) get their lives shaken up when an attractive young woman named Penny (Kaley Cuoco) moves in to the apartment across from theirs. The key to the show, though, is not that they both fall haplessly in love--Leonard does, but Sheldon remains impermeably aloof and caustic about anything resembling romance or human relationships in general. While the push and pull of Leonard's yearning for Penny motivates much of the series' ongoing plot, the show's real drive comes from Sheldon's fantastic combination of obsessive-compulsive neurosis and grandiose obliviousness. He's a brilliant comic creation, imperious and dorky, a seamless collaboration of clever writing and an inspired performance by Parsons. Whether Sheldon loses his job for insulting his new boss, or finds his ego bruised by a child prodigy, or finds himself unable to bear being part of a lie that Leonard has told, he attacks the world with a relentless need to assert his supremacy--and the results are deeply funny. The triumph of "The Big Bang Theory" is that everyone is written with genuine affection. What could have been a lifeless parade of stereotypes becomes instead a charming collision of cultures. The familiar stuff (computer games, comic books, social incompetence) has the grit of specificity. The show understands the difference between Halo and Halo 3, knows what the Bottle City of Kandor is, and grasps the infinite variety of ways in which a conversation can go terribly awry. Kudos as well to supporting players Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar, who bring their own variations on geekiness to the table, and to great appearances by some of Galecki's former cohorts on "Roseanne": Sara Gilbert as geekette Leslie and Laurie Metcalf as Sheldon's fundamentalist mother. All in all, one of the most winning sitcoms in years. --"Bret Fetzer "

Comments: Oil And Money Are An Explosive Mix.
Summary: A terrorist, Michael Kittredge, posing as an environmentalist protester leads a team of highly-skilled mercenaries to take control of an oil rig off the coast of California, intending to detonate an electromagnetic bomb over the United States, striking a sort of "new Pearl Harbor" attack on behalf of enemies to the nation. What Kittredge didn't count on is a tugboat captain, Lamont Dixon, who survives an attack on his ship, and is soon recruited by an FBI agent to infiltrate the oil rig and procure information about their plans... and if possible, stop them. In the process, Dixon meets an eager computer expert aboard the oil rig who helps Dixon even as he gets on his nerves and Lamont suspects he can't really trust him.

Summary: Recorded over the course of the final two nights of the New York City stand in 2000, this DVD set features the entire HBO broadcast and a bonus disc featuring another whole set of material. Taken collectively, the two discs are approximately the length of a typical concert during the 1999 - 2000 "Reunion" tour.Casual fans will enjoy straight-forward renditions of some of his most well known songs such as Born to Run, Thunder Road, and Badlands. To keep it interesting for fans and for the band, some of the classics are presented in vastly different arrangements. The River is slowed down and fleshed out in an arrangement that would not be out of place in a film noir soundtrack. Atlantic City and Mansion on the Hill (both from 1982's Nebraska) sound completely different as well. Atlantic City is delivered as a full throttled rocker and Mansion on the Hill sports a country feel. Born in the USA is stripped down to a stunning solo acoustic number (leaving no doubt as to the meaning of this widely misunderstood song).Fans of Bruce's early work will be delighted by the inclusion of a spot-on Lost in the Flood (from 1973's Greetings from Asbury Park, his debut album) and The E Street Shuffle (from 1973's The Wild, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle (played in it's entirety over the closing credits). Die-hard fans will appreciate the inclusion of several "outtakes" including the opening My Love Will Not Let You Down and Murder Incorporated (both recorded for 1984's Born in the USA), and Don't Look Back and The Promise (both recorded for 1978's Darkness on the Edge of Town).Highlights include stellar renditions of war horses such as Prove it All Night, Ramrod, Jungleland, Backstreets, and a blistering Light of Day. Also included is a 15 minute documentary featuring interview clips with the band as well as snippets of songs not included in the concert proper such as The Promised Land and Blood Brothers.Having played together for over a year, the band was in peak form when this video was recorded. Highly recommended.

Summary: Three times I've seen the Boss live and those are the three best concerts I've seen. First time on the Reunion tour in '99-'00, the second time on the Rising Tour '02-'03 and finally on the Magic tour '07-'08. On the Magic tour, like in Hyde Park here, the show I saw started in broad daylight and continued well into the evening. It's a different way of experiencing the band and, on the whole, more preferable than the indoor setting. The Boss's latest DVD showcases the band in that way and it's a terrific show...scratch that...it's a bloody perfect show.Along with some standard classics there are a few great rarities present here; like the great "Trapped", "Seeds" and a fantastic rendition of his Nebraska classic "Johnny 99". A true Springsteen fanatic can always mention songs he'd loved to have had but what's here is really good. At last we get the E-Street magic on "Rosalita", "Glory Days", "No Surrender" (with a solid guest performance from Gaslight Anthem's lead singer), "Bobby Jean" and some others. Some standards are MIA, such as "Darkness on the Edge of Town", "Prove it All Night" and "Thunder Road" but those are available on previous DVD's, so I can't complain there. It was particularly nice to see the band perform "Racing in the Street", Bruce obviously still feeling the power of his great lyrics on that tragic masterpiece. And I swear!, the guy defies age. Looking incredibly fit, energetic and full of obvious joy; Bruce is as captivating on stage as he looks on his 70's marathon concerts that can be viewed on Youtube. It's a funny moment when, after climbing the stairs up and down from the stage to his audience, Bruce screams he should have "a f...... elevator" 'cause "I'm 60 years old, dammit". Well, he doesn't look it, and after countless more runs up and down, it's clear he doesn't need an elevator. Maybe just a relaxing soak in the tub after the show :) And it's a testament to the Boss's musical legacy that he's still making great music this late in the game. One of the definite highlights of the Hyde Park Show is his incredible performance of the new song "Outlaw Pete". An eight minute epic; the crowd already knows all the words and the tragic (yet somehow quite comical) tale of this outlaw is performed flawlessly by the ever-perfect E-Street Band and the master storyteller. Outlaw Pete (Bruce) continually yells "Can you hear Me!"; the answer is short and sweet; Hell Yeah we can! There's nothing quite like experiencing a Springsteen show - but this DVD is great proof of the magic Bruce and his Band have. During his performance of "Working on a Dream" Bruce says something like "We're building a house of love, taking in all the bad news from out there and all the good news from in here". The house may still be in construction but Bruce and his Band have done their bit.

Summary: Bruce Springsteen & The Sessions Band: Live in Dublin (2007) *** (out of 4) Highly energetic concerts was recorded over three days at The Pointe Theatre in Dublin, Ireland. This was my first time hearing Bruce with The Sessions Band as I passed on the original CD for no better reason than just wanting him with The E Street Band (which we're getting a new CD next month). I was pleasantly surprised to see how much I enjoyed this show, which mixed Hillbilly Rock with Country, Jazz and even Religious music. Springsteen does some of his older tunes including the opener "Atlantic City", "Further On Up the Road" "Blinded By the Light" and "If I Should Fall Behind". These all comes off very well with their new mixes but "If I Should Fall Behind" was the real standout. The new songs include "Jesse James", "Oh Mary Don't You Weep" and various others, all of which came off terrific. I must say that this impressed me enough to go out and buy the CD, although I'm not sure how casual Springsteen fans will feel. I think if anyone enjoys an old time show then this should be up your alley.

Summary: Although not so much a 'live' release (it features different venues for different song performances) and straight ahead music videos. I actually think this is better because we're seeing Bruce live with the band and we see his music videos that feature our favourite songs of his also. Think of this video as a sort of 'bumper' video release with plenty of Bruce's brilliant material throughout. The video kicks off from a 1978 performance of 'Rosalita' with a 29 year old Bruce wailing away with chicks jumpin' on the stage grabbing him! Lucky guy! The other songs featured include all the popular tunes like 'Born To Run', 'Born In The USA', 'I'm On Fire' and 'Glory Days'. Even some lesser known songs such as 'Spare Parts' (from 'Tunnel Of Love' album) and 'Tougher than the rest' from 'Tunnel Of Love' also which are both live. I like Bruce Springsteen a lot. He has the edge as a showman and musical innovator without losing the plot onstage. Fans will love this video for it's authentic live performances, music videos and classic Springsteen songs. Great! 9/10

Comments: The Epic Fall of the American Indian
Summary: Beginning just after the bloody Sioux victory over General Custer at Little Big Horn, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee intertwines the perspectives of three characters: Charles Eastman, né Ohiyesa, a young, Dartmouth-educated, Sioux doctor held up as living proof of the alleged success of assimilation; Sitting Bull, the proud Lakota chief who refuses to submit to U.S. government policies designed to strip his people of their identity, their dignity and their sacred land - the gold-laden Black Hills of the Dakotas; and Senator Henry Dawes, who was one of the architects of the government policy on Indian affairs. While Eastman and patrician schoolteacher Elaine Goodale work to improve life for the Indians on the reservation, Senator Dawes lobbies President Grant for more humane treatment, opposing the bellicose stance of General William Tecumseh Sherman. Hope rises for the Indians in the form of the prophet Wovoka and the Ghost Dance...

Summary: In 1959, Truman Capote, a popular writer for The New Yorker, learns about the horrific and senseless murder of a family of four in Holcomb, Kansas. Inspired by the story material, Capote and his partner, Harper Lee, travel to the town to research for an article. However, as Capote digs deeper into the story, he is inspired to expand the project into what would be his greatest work, In Cold Blood. To that end, he arranges extensive interviews with the prisoners, especially with Perry Smith, a quiet and articulate man with a troubled history. As he works on his book, Capote feels some compassion for Perry which in part prompts him to help the prisoners to some degree. However, that feeling deeply conflicts with his need for closure for his book which only an execution can provide. That conflict and the mixed motives for both interviewer and subject make for a troubling experience that would produce an literary account that would redefine modern non-fiction.

The cynical lone wolf Blaine comes into the possession of two valuable letters of transit. Much to Rick's surprise, Lazslo arrives with Ilsa, Rick's one time love. Summary: This Martin Scorsese film depicts the Janus-like quality of Las Vegas--it has a glittering, glamorous face, as well as a brutal, cruel one. Ace Rothstein and Nicky Santoro, mobsters who move to Las Vegas to make their mark, live and work in this paradoxical world. Seen through their eyes, each as a foil to the other, the details of mob involvement in the casinos of the 1970's and '80's are revealed. Ace is the smooth operator of the Tangiers casino, while Nicky is his boyhood friend and tough strongman, robbing and shaking down the locals. However, they each have a tragic flaw--Ace falls in love with a hustler, Ginger, and Nicky falls into an ever-deepening spiral of drugs and violence.

Summary: In the world of animated comedy, Seth MacFarlane is probably the busiest at the moment. Not only is he behind three prime-time shows (Family Guy, American Dad, The Cleveland Show) he also does voice work for 'Robot Chicken' (the side-project of his 'Family Guy' cast-mate Seth Green). While the title of the 'Cavalcade' may sound old-fashioned, its humor is anything but. The 'Cavalcade' was originally broadcast in 2008 in an online format. Away from commercial pressures, Seth uses this freedom to deliver sketches with an abundance of swearing, violence, sex scenes/references and gross-out moments, as well as the usual pop-culture reference (The Flinstones, Super Mario Bros, Looney Tunes, as well as a number of eighties movies) and you get the feeling it's something he wanted to do. The style of humor is far more vulgar than Family Guy, and at times seems there purely for shock value, lacking the cleverness (and nostalgia value) of 'Robot Chicken'. The problem is, in a society desensitized to all but the most explicit content, it's hard to get away with shock value for the sake of it. Most of the punchlines tend to be fairly predictable (a depressed Wile E. Coyote turns to Jesus, a horse in a bar is actually Sarah Jessica Parker, Helena Bonham Carter is mistaken for a corpse). It's fair to say this collection could even pass as a montage of 'Family Guy' cut-away gags, especially with a lot of 'Family Guy' voice talent (including MacFarlane, Alex Borstein and Green, with guest appearances from Gilbert Gottfried and Will Wheadon, both playing themselves). Gottfried's performance is a highlight, willingly taking the mickey out of himself, loudly proclaiming that he was the parrot in Aladdin.Overall, 'Cavalcade' is not one of Seth MacFarlane's best works. While you can appreciate it is a passion project for him, fans of his previous work have seen it all before (or variants of it) and the reliance on shock value doesn't have the same impact.

The cops dismiss her as either a liar or hysterical. When she joins a minister in his public criticism of the police, they in turn use government power to silence and intimidate her. After getting out of the car and walking along a path for a while, they discover an open-air restaurant filled with food but with no workers or customers present. Mom and Dad don't hesitate to sit down and dig in, but Chihiro senses danger and refuses. As night falls, she is terrified to see the area fill with faceless spirits, but when she runs to find her parents, she discovers that they have been turned into pigs. She is found by a mysterious boy named Haku, who promises to help her. He gets her a job working in a nearby building, which turns out to be a bathhouse for the thousands of Japan's gods and spirits. Though the work is hard and the people strange, she does as well as she can. Her parents, however, are still waiting in the hotel's stockyard...

Summary: In a remote area of Northern Kenya, activist Tessa Quayle is found brutally murdered. Tessa's companion, a doctor, appears to have fled the scene, and the evidence points to a crime of passion. Members of the British High Commission in Nairobi assume that Tessa's widower, their mild-mannered and unambitious colleague Justin Quayle, will leave the matter to them. They could not be more wrong. Haunted by remorse and jarred by rumors of his late wife's infidelities, Quayle surprises everyone by embarking on a personal odyssey that will take him across three continents. Using his privileged access to diplomatic secrets, he will risk his own life, stopping at nothing to uncover and expose the truth - a conspiracy more far-reaching and deadly than Quayle could ever have imagined.

Summary: the best music ever... better than any album version.. excellent performance, especially Mark's relaxed style and Paul's pedal steel.. my vote was 10/10.. I couldn't find 20/10 :) The concert begins on daylight with catchy songs like Calling Elvis, Walk Of LIfe (check out the pedal steel guitar!!) and when the night falls, ballads like Romeo and Juliet (Sax is great!), Brothers in Arms, Private Investigations and You and Your Friend makes me regret that in 1993 I was only a kid and I was not allowed to travel abroad all by myself... that's real music and unfortunately great things do not just happen.. I suggest you also watch Pulse (Pink FLoyd), for another amazing performance.

Comments: Dancing to the beat of their hearts.
Summary: In the 1960s, Frances "Baby" Houseman, a sweet daddy's girl, goes with her family to a resort in upstate New York's Catskill Mountains. Baby has grown up in privileged surroundings and all expect her to go on to college, join the Peace Corps and save the world before marrying a doctor, just like her father. Unexpectedly, Baby becomes infatuated with the camp's dance instructor, Johnny, a man whose background is vastly different from her own. Baby lies to her father to get money to pay for an illegal abortion for Johnny's dance partner (Johnny is not the father). She then fills in as Johnny's dance partner and it is as he is teaching her the dance routine that they fall in love. It all comes apart when Johnny's friend falls seriously ill after her abortion and Baby gets her father, who saves the girl's life. He then learns what Baby has been up to, who with and worse - that he funded the illegal abortion...

Comments: You can never go too far.
Summary: Donnie Darko doesn't get along too well with his family, his teachers and his classmates; but he does manage to find a sympathetic friend in Gretchen, who agrees to date him. He has a compassionate psychiatrist, who discovers hypnosis is the means to unlock hidden secrets. His other companion may not be a true ally. Donnie has a friend named Frank - a large bunny which only Donnie can see. When an engine falls off a plane and destroys his bedroom, Donnie is not there. Both the event, and Donnie's escape, seem to have been caused by supernatural events. Donnie's mental illness, if such it is, may never allow him to find out for sure.
